CENTERBURG – A 37-year-old Centerburg man has pleaded not guilty to obstructing official business in Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Monday after barricading himself inside a travel trailer on Sunday night.
Timothy McClary was arrested Sunday night after a three-hour standoff. Law enforcement used non-flammable expulsion canisters to coax him out of the trailer.
An active warrant was placed for McClary after Knox County Sheriff’s deputies were notified he was at a location on West Main Street, Sheriff David Shaffer said.
The first deputy arrived at 3:30 p.m., and according to Shaffer, the suspect was taken into custody at 6:48 p.m.
The Knox County Tactical Response Unit was activated, according to the incident report.
McClary told deputies he had knives and hatchets, the sheriff said. McClary also said he wouldn’t come out of the travel trailer and deputies would have to kill him.
No weapons were located by the deputies.
While talking to deputies, McClary poured a “flammable substance” on the floor that he said was camp fuel, Shaffer added.
Deputies deployed two flameless expulsion OC canisters inside of the trailer, Shaffer said, adding McClary eventually exited the trailer and was taken into custody.
