MOUNT VERNON — Judge John Thatcher found 13 people guilty and sentenced three this week after trials, arraignments and hearings in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.
These were the cases brought forward by the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office.
JULY 27
Cortnie Foote, 31, of Howard, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced her to pay a $250 fine.

JULY 26
Rusty Carpenter, 32, of Newark, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Operating a Vehicle without Headlights on. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine for the drug charges and a $25 fine for the headlights charge.
Vincent Grimaldo, 29, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Improper Lane Usage. The Court sentenced him to pay a $700 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for two years for the OVI charge. He was sentenced to pay a $35 fine for the Improper Lane Usage charge.
Ashley Doyle, 36, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments and Theft. The Court sentenced her to serve 60 days in jail.
James Fox, 33, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty o f Domestic Violence. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, with 60 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.
Travis Gillespie, 47, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Petty Theft. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 160 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.
Jessica Joslin, 39, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced her to serve 30 days in jail.
Samuel Shaffer, 30, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of a Drug of Abuse. The Court sentenced him to pay a $1,000 fine, serve 365 days in jail, with 305 days suspended, placed him on five years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for three years.
Ami Randall, 48, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Violating a Protection order on June 22, 2022. Today she was sentenced to serve 41 days in jail.
Brandon Price, 33, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on June 21, 2022. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 122 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment.
Monte Miracle, 65, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse on June 21, 2022. Today he was sentenced to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
Jesse Myers, 26, of Columbus, was found guilty of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle on June 23, 2022. The Court sentenced him to serve 15 days in jail.

JULY 25
Allan Tolbert, 35, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Menacing. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with 25 days suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following conditions: complete 10 hours of community service and complete an Anger Management program.
Matthew Barnes, 43, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with 27 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
Laura McCarthy-Roeger, 46, of New Albany, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $120 fine.
Rolanda Heyder, 58, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Failing to Use Reasonable Control and Not Wearing a Seatbelt. The Court sentenced her to pay a $150 fine for the Failure to Control charge and a $30 fine for Not Wearing a Seatbelt.
