No matter our race, our political party, or our background, most of us are patriots and believe in the principles of liberty, justice, and the rule of law.
At the same time, most of us also believe that January 6th was a crime against our country and an attack on our freedoms.
Unfortunately, MAGA Republicans continue to downplay the criminality of Jan. 6th and the events leading up to it. As a federal judge declared, “the illegality of the plan was obvious.” Trump Republicans planned, promoted, paid for, and sought pardons for the events that culminated in the Jan. 6th attack.
They wanted to keep Trump in power. After Jan. 6th, they tried to block FBI investigations, and they continue to spread deadly lies, further enraging their base and setting the stage to sabotage future elections.
In America, voters decide who governs in our name. In 2020, the will of the people prevailed. Now, we must come together to support the rule of law and demand accountability. As patriots, we must act.
We can inform ourselves with the facts. We can watch the full hearings of the January 6th Committee.
Further, we can vote only for moral and courageous politicians committed to our country’s founding principles. Lawmakers must make sure our votes count. Lawmakers must demand full accountability for everyone involved in the events leading up to and including Jan. 6th, demonstrating that no one is above the law.
It is within our power to save and strengthen our precious republic, the greatest democracy in the world.
