MOUNT VERNON — Judge John Thatcher found 13 people guilty in Mount Vernon Municipal Court this week. 

— Rickie Rhea, 27 of Akron, was found guilty of Possessing Drug Paraphernalia and Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced her to serve 30 days in jail with 23 days suspended and placed her on one year of community control with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days for the Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and pay a $200 fine on the FRA DUS.

— William Redd, 26 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Obstructing Official Business. He will be sentenced at a later date following a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

— Mandolyn Newell, 21 of Centerburg, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $35 fine.

— Casey Byrnes, 33 of Centerburg, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $30 fine.

Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the State of Ohio in the Newell and Byrnes cases and Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City in the Rhea and Redd cases.

— Joseph Mooney, 38 of Ashley, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with Fictitious Plates. The Court sentenced him to serve 31 days in jail.

— Misty Zolman, 48 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced her to serve 15 days in jail.

— Ila Lester-Garris, 47 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft by Deception. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, placed her on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and pay restitution to Wal-Mart.

— Fletcher Potes, 22 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Mischief. The Court sentenced him to serve 60 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment.

— Guy Mills, 50 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 120 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.

— Carlos Leon-Perez, 37 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

— Monte Miracle, 64 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse. He will be sentenced on July 26, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.

— Brandon Price, 33 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. He will be sentenced on July 26, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.

— Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Potes, Lester-Garris, Leon-Perez, and Mills cases, and the State of Ohio in the Price case. Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.
