MOUNT VERNON — Knox County went 5-for-5 last week.
All five county softball teams won sectional championships and will be in action in this week’s district tournaments.
Danville and East Knox will kick things off Monday in the Division IV district semifinals. The top-seeded Blue Devils will take on No. 8 Delaware Christian at 5 p.m. at Pickerington Central, while the No. 3 Bulldogs meet No. 6 Ridgedale.
Danville cruised to a run rule-shortened 19-0 win over No. 17 Tree of Life Christian in the sectional finals. Sophomore pitcher Grace Gronberg twirled a five-inning perfect game, striking out 14 of the 15 hitters she faced.
Delaware Christian advanced with a 13-3 win over No. 13 Millersport.
East Knox punched its ticket to the district with a run rule-shortened 15-0 win over Harvest Prep. Pitchers Maddy Cotsamire and Natalie Smith combined on a no-hitter.
East Knox’s district opponent, Ridgedale, knocked off Granville Christian 12-0 top advance.
Mount Vernon will meet Olentangy Liberty in a Division I district semifinal game at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Pickerington North. The ninth-seeded Yellow Jackets advanced with a 7-1 win over No. 27 Hilliard Darby, while No. 6 Liberty dispatched No. 25 New Albany 7-2.
In Division III, No. 8 Centerburg will meet No. 5 Fairbanks at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Olentangy, while No. 7 Fredericktown will play No. 2 West Jefferson at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Olentangy.
Centerburg beat No. 6 Marion Elgin 6-4 in the sectional finals, while the Freddies stopped No. 9 Liberty Union 12-5 to advance.
