Adults looking to change or upgrade their careers have the opportunity right here in Mount Vernon. Knox County Career Center’s career training school for adults, Knox Technical Center (KTC), announces an event for new and prospective students to make personal connections with the staff.
On Monday, May 23, a free information session will be held at KTC. Interested persons can drop in any time 4:00-7:00pm to meet with the coordinators of Financial Aid and all of the career training programs, including fields in allied health, business, cosmetology, industrial trades, nursing, and public safety.
“It is important to get that personal touch, to make a connection,” Kim Williams, KTC Director, said. “We want our students to know that we put them first.”
Most programs at KTC are completed in one year or less. This makes it a more affordable choice than a two- or four-year degree program, and students get training focused on the skills they need for their field.
The certifications that students earn make them employable at today’s most in-demand jobs. The school also offers many grants and financial aid options to ensure that every student has an opportunity to attend.
Interested students will find a wealth of information in a low-stress environment at the upcoming information session, where they can get their questions answered and receive assistance with the enrollment process.
“There will even be light refreshments,” Williams said. “And if you can’t make it to the event on Monday, don’t worry, you can contact us and we will set up a personalized information session for you.”
Free registration for the event is optional but it will help KTC have enough refreshments for all participants.
“We hope to see you there!” says Williams.
