MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 16 guilty and sentenced two after hearings and arraignments were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on May 9, May 10, and May 11, 2022.

May 9

Jason Beaver, 41 of Howard, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

Robert Williams, 46 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Menacing. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete the Court’s Hands Down program.

Karen McDonald, 54 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced her to pay a $50 fine.

Michael Smith, 64 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Shawna Clawson, 44 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with all time suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.

Bachir Mombeleur, 37 of Bayside, NY, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to $135 fine.

May 10

Mary Chalfant, 71 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.

Steven Houston, 40 of Vermilion, was found guilty of Driving Under an OVI/ALS Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine, serve three days in jail, and suspended his operator’s license for 30 days.

Heather Harney, 46 of Frazeysburg, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $100 fine.

Nancy Willis, 73 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $75 fine.

Addison Crouch, 19 of Howard, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $100 fine.

Joseph Seymour, 36 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Stop After an Accident and Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 173 suspended, placed him on two years of probation, and suspended his operator’s license for 180 days.

Brittany Wheeler, 31 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced her to serve 30 days in jail, with 20 days suspended, and placed her on one year of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment.

Daylan Campbell, 18 of Gahanna, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

James Fidler, 67 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Violating a Temporary Protection Order on March 29, 2022. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 159 days suspended, and was placed on two years of probation.

Christopher Weaver, 47 of Danville, was found guilty of Violating a Temporary Protection Order on April 5, 2022. He was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 90 days suspended, and was placed on five years of probation with the following conditions: complete 100 hours of community service, complete a 40-hour Batterer’s Intervention Program, and participate in Ohio Means Jobs.

Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the State of Ohio in the Fidler and Weaver cases.

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.

May 11

Judge John Thatcher found two guilty after trials were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on May 11.

Prince Bonsu, 20 of Columbus, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

Mitchel Gadd, 26 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.

Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Gadd case and the State of Ohio in the Bonsu case.
