The National Weather Service office in Cleveland is 1-0 this winter.

It doubled down early Monday morning.

After accurately predicted snow Sunday night, to the tune of three to five inches, the NWS early Monday morning extended the local winter weather advisory until 10 a.m. for an area that includes Richland, Ashland and Knox counties.

It had been scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon issued a Level One snow advisory late Sunday night. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level Two.

“We can expect to see additional snow accumulations up to two inches, with the total accumulation anywhere between three and seven inches, and some slippery road conditions,” said Richland County EMA Director Joseph D. Petrycki.

In a Level One snow emergency, roads are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

In Level Two, roads are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

In Level Three, all roads are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.

Roads throughout north central Ohio are snow covered and slippery today. If you don’t have to be out Monday morning, stay inside and allow road crews time and space to plow and treat the roads.

After snow largely concludes later this morning, blustery winds up to 20 miles per hour will blow the white stuff, continuing to make travel somewhat interesting.

The high today will be around 26. There is a chance of snow showers tonight, mainly before 9 p.m. Winds will diminish to 10 to 15 miles an hour and up to half an inch of new snow is possible.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 30. It will be mostly cloudy Tuesday night with a low around 29.
