JACKSON, Mich. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team (10-5, 1-3) had a member earn Player of the Week honors for the first time this season after its trip down south to Florida last week.

Junior forward, Kyle Kegley, a Northmor graduate, was named as the Men’s Basketball Crossroads League Player of the Week after two dominant games at Florida Memorial College and Keiser University.

Through two games for the Cougars, Kegley put up huge numbers of 22 points, 15 rebounds, two blocks, and two assists.

In Florida, Kegley shot an extremely efficient 61.5% from the floor. Kegley shot 33% from three point land and converted 11 of his 13 free throw attempts.

Kegley and MVNU men’s basketball will return to action on December 30 in Ariel Arena against the University of Northwestern Ohio. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.

Maggie Coe

Coe earns 2nd Player of the Week honor this season

For the second time this season, Maggie Coe of the No. 24 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s basketball team (10-4, 4-0) has been named as the Women’s Basketball Crossroads League Player of the Week.

Coe, a Cedarville High School product, had a big trip out west for MVNU in the team’s games in Portland, Oregon. Coe lit up the west coast with averages of 20 points and four assists, while shooting 45.2% from the field and 35% from deep.

Coe also chipped in with 1.5 rebounds and one steal in her games at Warner Pacific College and Multnomah University.

This marks the fourth time already this season that a member of the MVNU women’s basketball team has been named as the Player of the Week by the Crossroads League.
