MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County teen who went missing Dec. 6 was found Tuesday in southern Ohio, according to a press release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Alyssa Wood, 14, of Mount Vernon, was located in Jackson County, more than two hours south of her hometown. She was taken into custody Tuesday by officers from the Jackson Police Department, the press release stated, and is expected to be returned to Knox County “within the next couple of days.”
Dustin N. Theophilus, 38, of Columbus, was arrested on charges of interfering with custody, as a part of the investigation.
“Detectives received information that Theophilus helped facilitate the disappearance of the juvenile,” the press release said. “Mr. Theophilus is known to the girl’s family.”
The case remains under investigation and more charges are expected.
This is a developing story. Knox Pages will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
