MOUNT VERNON – The City of Mount Vernon began picking up leaves today, Nov. 1, 2021.

Crews will have three machines operating this season, picking up the main streets first, then proceeding to the side streets and outlying areas.

Mount Vernon leaf pick-up schedule

Attached is the template for the leaf pick-up schedule, which will be updated daily, Monday through Friday, until the seasonal pick-up is complete. The updated schedule will be posted on the City’s website, mountvernonohio.org. Look for “Press Releases” under the “Media/Press” drop-down menu.

The schedule will also be updated on the City’s Facebook page.

Residents are advised to please rake their leaves to the curb, not into the street, as raking leaves into the street results in clogged storm sewers. Additionally, the City asks that leaves not be raked around utility poles or sign posts, since leaf machines cannot maneuver around them.

Please refrain from parking on the street when leaf pick-up is scheduled for that area. The pick-up schedule will be dependent on both the weather and the volume of leaves to be removed.
