MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon dropped a heartbreaking decision to Marion Harding in Friday night’s season-opening football game.
The Presidents came out on top 28-27 in a game that was close throughout.
The two squads battled to a 7-7 first-quarter tie, and it stayed that way into halftime.
Through three quarters, the Yellow Jackets edged in front 14-13.
But Marion Harding outscored MV 15-13 in the final period.
Coach Mike Kerr’s Yellow Jackets are coming off a 5-4 campaign last season, and have finished above .500 the past two years.
