MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Career Center students competed virtually in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) State competition, and award winners were recently released.
KCCC had 15 students from the Computer Network Technology (CNT) and CollegeU-Business (CLGU) programs that qualified for nationals. Our students will compete in the BPA Virtual National Leadership Conference, April 26 to May 9.
BPA is a career technical student organization that allows students to compete in various competitions in the areas of Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communications and Design, Management, Marketing and Communications, and Health Administration.
The mission at BPA is to develop and empower student leaders to discover their passion and change the world by creating unmatched opportunities in learning, professional growth, and service.
As a co-curricular organization, BPA has the ability to enhance student participation in professional, civic, service, and social endeavors. BPA members participate in these activities to accomplish their goals of self-improvement, leadership development, professionalism, community service, career development, public relations, student cooperation, safety, and health.
“Even during this ‘less than normal’ year, students worked diligently toward their BPA goals,” Tammy Klein, CollegeU-Business program instructor, said. “I am so very proud of their hard work and dedication and impressed with the flexibility they demonstrated through all the twists and turns this year has brought their way. BPA continues to provide a path for students to shine.”
Nate Greene, Computer Network Technology program instructor, added, “I am very proud of the students who worked hard on BPA competitions during this difficult year. I wish them the best as they compete against students from across the country.”
Rachel and Emma, CollegeU-Business students, placed 5th at State in the Small Business Management Team division, and Isabella, Digital Media & Software Development student, placed 10th at State in the Digital Media Production division but didn’t qualify for nationals.
