ASHLAND — The Ashland County Health Department (ACHD) reported its third positive test result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in an Ashland County resident, according to a press release issued by the department’s coordinator Jill Hartson Thursday afternoon.

A public health investigation is ongoing with ACHD conducting contact tracing. Individuals who were in close contact with the confirmed case will be notified and given further instructions.

No additional information will be released to protect the privacy of this individual.

The second positive case of COVID-19 in an Ashland County resident was reported locally Friday, March 27. At that time, Hartson also reported the individual who was Ashland County’s first positive case had recovered.

The ACHD urges Ashland County residents to continue following Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton’s stay-at-home orders.

If it is necessary to leave your house, practice social distancing and follow these additional guidelines:

1. Wash your hands regularly.

2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

3. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces often.

If you are sick, contact your doctor by phone to discuss your symptoms. COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath.

“As the ACHD works diligently to contain COVID-19, please limit calls to our office,” Hartson said. “Excellent resources are available on the CDC’s website.”

Additional information is available at the Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) website, www.coronavirus.ohio.gov.
