MOUNT VERNON — When it comes to selecting your natural gas provider, it is important to understand what your options are. Since 2008, the local residents authorized the City of Mount Vernon to create a municipal opt out natural gas program.
Under this program, the City negotiates with natural gas suppliers to obtain favorable rates and terms for natural gas service to its residents. Recently, City Administration selected Dominion Energy Solutions as the supplier for the program for a two-year term that is expected to begin with the April 2020 meter reading date and continue until the March 2022 meter reading.
Dominion Energy Solutions has agreed to supply Mount Vernon residents gas service at a price equal to the NYMEX month-end close, plus a guaranteed 10% off of Columbia Gas of Ohio’s current Standard Choice Offer (SCO) Adder. This program is exclusively for City of Mount Vernon customers served by Columbia Gas of Ohio.
City residents have two options.
I. Option 1: If you wish to participate in the government aggregation program and take advantage of the rate, no action is required on your part. Your account will be automatically included in the aggregation program unless you opt out. Columbia Gas of Ohio will confirm your enrollment, and you will have an opportunity to rescind your enrollment at that time.
II. Option 2: If you do not wish to participate in the program, you must notify Dominion Energy
Solutions either by completing the reply card attached to the mailing and returning it to P.O. Box 6090
Glen Allen, VA 23058-9969 or by calling 1-877-940-2485. Whichever method you choose, you must notify Dominion Energy Solutions by March 18, 2020 to opt out of the program.
Columbia Gas of Ohio will continue to be responsible for delivering natural gas to your premises and reading your meter, and will issue a single bill for service that will include both its own charges for distribution service and Dominion Energy Solutions’ charges for natural gas supply.
Mount Vernon customers are encouraged to review all materials, including the Terms and Conditions located on the back of the letter (being sent very soon), and decide which option is best for each household.
Customers are encouraged to please respond only if they do not wish to participate. Call Dominion Energy Solutions toll-free at 1-877-940-2485 if you have any questions. Dominion Energy Solutions’ Call Center hours are Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The official offer through this program will have the Mount Vernon City Logo and will be signed by Mayor Matthew T. Starr.
