A flash flood watch remains in effect for all of north central Ohio until Thursday at 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service office in Cleveland.

The widespread area covered by the watch includes Richland, Ashland, Knox and Crawford counties.

Showers and a few thunderstorms will be scattered across the area this morning. Forecasters believe heavier showers and thunderstorms will develop near a Findlay-to-Mansfield-to-Youngstown line and track east.

With the ground already saturated, heavy rain of almost any duration has the potential to cause new or additional flooding, the NWS said.

Additional rainfall amounts today of one to two inches will be possible.

A Flash Flood Watch is issued when there is a potential for flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Monitor the forecast and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued or if flooding develops.

The forecast calls for dryer weather and sunshine on Friday before periods of rain and thunderstorms return this weekend.
