Joan Magill, 86, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 at Morrow Manor in Chesterville, Ohio.

She was born Feb. 1, 1933 in Tiverton, Ohio the daughter of Virgil and Beulah (Black) Walton. Joan retired from First Knox National Bank after 25 years of employment.

Joan was a former member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mount Vernon. If you looked up the word “homemaker” in the dictionary, Joan would be the picture listed. She loved working around the house and took great pride in her perfectly manicured flower beds. For the last couple of years Joan enjoyed driving the countryside and visiting her daughter’s farm to play pinball.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother that will be sadly missed by her family.

She is survived by her daughters; Connie Lynn (Ali) Ghafourian, of Athens, Georgia, Linda (James) Jennings, of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Ucef (Shelly) Ghafourian, Nauder Ghafourian, Adam Ghafourian and Kristin (Josh) Magill; a great granddaughter, Margo; a son at heart, R.L. and Mary Lanson, of Mount Vernon, and daughter-in-law, Susie Magill, of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Magill; a son, David Magill and her step-father, Thomas Mahon.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 beginning at 2 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of L. Joan Magill.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cheryl of Morrow Manor, her extended special friends, Margie, Cara “Angel”, Brenda “Sugar,” Megan, Janet, Melissa “greatest nurse,” “Bill,” Margaret and Steve, Anita from Kindred Hospice and Pastor Dallas Waggle.
