Kaitlyn Elizabeth “Katie” McLain

Kaitlyn Elizabeth “Katie” McLain, age 12, of Mount Gilead, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

On March 27, 2006, Katie was born in Marion, Ohio, daughter of Garret F. McLain and Melissa N. Ramsey. She was in the 7th grade at Mount Gilead Middle School.

A young woman of faith, Katie attended Gilead Friends Church for many years. She was very active in the children’s programs and loved Miss Kitty and the Sonshine Express bus.

If you asked Katie, her dream would be to go on The Voice and sing, be a celebrity YouTuber, own a bakery and be an artist. Katie absolutely loved music. She played the clarinet and ukulele. She had a beautiful voice and never went a day without singing, creating music videos on Gacha Life and listening to her favorite songs on YouTube. Baking cakes and cupcakes was another hobby of hers, and she recently got into decorating them too. She was a very artsy person and enjoyed being in the Art Club at school.

Katie was also a PC gamer and liked simulation games like SIMS and Stardew Valley. She also enjoyed binging on NETFLIX, watching shows like Friends, Fuller House and any baking contest.

Katie will be remembered as a strong, creative and brave young lady. She had a “larger than life” personality and was a bright light in the lives of so many people. She always lived by the example of treating everyone back with kindness.

Katie will be dearly missed by her parents: Garret and Melissa of Mount Gilead; her brothers: Cameron, Korben, and Aiden McLain all of Mount Gilead; grandparents: Dawn (George) Wolfingbarger of Marion, Micah (Don) McLain of Mount Gilead; great grandparents: Charlene Louden of Marion and Carroll (Patricia) Ramsey of Delaware; aunts and uncles: Jessica Haines of Marengo, Doni Ramsey of Marion, Thomas (Jessica) Ramsey of Point Pleasant, WV, Seth (Rebecca Roberts) McLain of Mount Gilead, Rory Haines of Mount Gilead, Josh Miller of Galion; cousins: Jordan Haines of Mount Gilead, Bryson Haines of Marengo, Vincent Miller of Marengo, Rosalyn McLain of Mount Gilead, Madison Ramsey, Elizabeth Ramsey and Emma Ramsey all of Point Pleasant, WV.
