MOUNT VERNON — Food For The Hungry has surpassed its 2018 goal of $220,000, according to Drive Coordinator Lisa Mazzari.
Monetary and food donations have continued to stream in from the public since the Dec. 8 drive, bringing the total to $237,472.12 as of late Friday afternoon.
At the close of last Saturday’s live broadcast, over $214,000 was donated by the Knox County community — just shy of the goal — but board members were not discouraged.
“Food For The Hungry continues to be a strong, countywide initiative that brings us all together to help our neighbors,” said Samantha Scoles, FFTH president. “We can’t say enough about the generosity of Knox County as well as the dedication of our board members and legacy partners.”
