Nora M. Carpenter Mollohan, 82, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Aug. 27, 1936 in Mount Vernon to the late Leonard A. and Gladys O. (Grimm) Coon Sr.

Nora was a tireless worker. She spent many decades in the wild fur and ginseng business and also worked at Big Bear Grocery Store and the local Holiday Inn. She was a member of the Bellville Free Will Baptist Church. She kept God close to her heart.

Nora was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a joyful person to be around and loved spending time and having fun with family and friends.

She also loved taking bus trips and playing dominos with her current husband, Gene. She was a loyal and faithful wife to her late husband, Robert Carpenter for 48 years and her current husband, Gene Mollohan for 7 years. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Nora is survived by her husband, Gene Mollohan; daughters, Lynne (Russ) Edgar, Jill Carpenter and Kim (Oliver) Rister; sons Cliff (Amy) Carpenter, Dave (Jeanette) Carpenter, Rob (Debbie) Carpenter, Josh Carpenter, Chad (Danielle) Carpenter, Mark (Annette) Mollohan and Chris (Tina) Mollohan; sisters, Mona (John) Wolford and Phyllis (Jim) Vernon; grandchildren, Preston Carpenter, Matt (Betsy) Carpenter, Tori Carpenter, Tayler (David) Streby, Taran (Brandon) Moss, Mikala and Maya Carpenter, Alexander and Xavier Carpenter, Lindsey (John) Edgar Trebian, Derek (Gena) Edgar, Mel (Jeff) Small, Kari (Matt) Curtis, Amanda Mollohan and Helen Mollohan along with eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Carpenter; and a brother, Leonard Coon Jr.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service celebrating the life of Nora at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon with Pastor Paul Stanton officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
