James Dean Moran

James Dean Moran, 67, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Jim was born in Knox County, Ohio on Feb. 4, 1951 to the late Deane Beckholt and Lena Ruth Moran.

Jim served his country proudly during the Vietnam War from March of 1971 to April 1973 as a PFC in the U.S. Army. He earned his marksmanship badge from M16 riffle and his Nation Defense Service Medallion. Jim received his honorable discharge on April 16, 1973. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS post 95 in Mount Vernon.

Jim was a Certified Welder and built trailers in Walhonding, Ohio. He retired from Ver-Mac Industries after 14 years of service.

Jim is survived by his sister, Rebecca (Fred) Sampsel of Blissfield, Ohio; his sons, Joe (Cindy) McManaway, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Charles (Jennifer) Moran, of Grover Hill, Ohio, William (Rhonda) Moran, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, James Scott (Melinda) Moran, of Mount Vernon, Ohio; daughters, Melissa R. Moran, of Mount Venron, Ohio, Britta Troxel, of Marietta, Georgia, Tammy Geog, of Howard, Ohio; step-children, Donny vance, Kelly Vance, Lori Vance, Ronny John Brumbley, Pete Alberts, Glen Geog and 16 grandchilren, 29 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; and girlfriend, Sue Ervin.

Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Rene Moran; son, James Dean Moran II; step-son, Kenny Geog.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. with an hour of visitation starting at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A private burial will take place at a later date.
