BUTLER – A special guest from the popular TV show “American Pickers” will be on site to kick off the inaugural Vintage Peddler festival this weekend.

Danielle Colby from “American Pickers” on the History channel will be co-hosting a fashion show on the opening day of the Vintage Peddler starting at noon on Saturday, June 9. She will then be signing autographs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for guests near the front entrance of the festival.

Colby’s attendance is the perfect way to introduce the brand-new festival, where guests can see what’s trending in home decor and shop for all things vintage, antique, farmhouse and repurposed. Mandie Willis, co-owner of the Prairie Peddler Festival and Vintage Peddler, said the new event was added due to a demand for another event in the springtime.

“It’s more than just everything handmade, the difference is antiques can be sold, and some vintage reproductions,” Willis said.

At least 95 vendors have signed on to participate in the Vintage Peddler’s inaugural event, which will include how-to demonstrations, live music and a generous food selection. Willis also noted the Vintage Peddler will serve beer and wine, and will have a merchandise hold/pick-up service tent free to customers, where large items can be retrieved.

This isn’t the first time “American Pickers” has visited a Peddler festival. According to Willis, approximately 12 years ago the show’s other two stars, Mike and Frank, were filming an episode in the area when they heard about the Prairie Peddler Festival and decided to stop by.

Colby is a lover and collector of all things history, and currently starting her ninth successful season with Mike and Frank. She is also the executive producer of a historically significant documentary about a legendary burlesque performer, an ambassador a jewelry design program dedicated to empowering young girls and women victimized by sex trafficking and domestic violence within the Dominican Republic, and set to hit the road later this year to start touring with her band “Gin Rummy.”

The Vintage Peddler will take place on June 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located just 12 miles East of I-71 on State Route 97. Admission is $6 for adults 12 and older, and parking is free. Find the Vintage Peddler on Facebook or go to shopthevintagepeddler.com for more information.
