DELAWARE — Daniel T. Bertram, 48, of Marengo, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Delaware County Coroner after a two-vehicle crash in Kingstown Township on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:26 p.m. on Ohio 521, at the intersection of North Galena Road, in Kingston Township, Delaware County.
Max E. Mahle, 16, of Sunbury, Ohio, was driving a red 2015 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Ohio 521. Bertram was driving a gray 2003 Toyota Camry northbound on County Road 34. The patrol reported Bertram failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck in the left side by Mahle’s vehicle.
Mahle had one passenger in his vehicle, Edward A. Mahle, 71, of Galena.
Max and Edward Mahle were transported to Grant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Bertram was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Delaware County Coroner.
The drivers and passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the patrol stated. Alcohol/drug use is unknown.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware County EMS, and Porter Kingston Fire Department.
