AVON, Ohio – Sophomore Anthony Howard of Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s tennis has earned the Crossroads League Player of the Week distinction, as announced by the league office Monday, March 26.
A complete list of the Crossroads League Weekly winners in all sports throughout 2017-2018 is provided below, Howard won both his singles and doubles matches decisively against Bethany College, as MVNU won 7-2 on the Ramser Tennis Courts for its first win at the new home venue. He prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Kevin Maurer to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Howard is the first men or women’s tennis player at MVNU to claim the Crossroads League award, as the programs were both reinstituted as a varsity sport in the Fall of 2017.
Coach Daniel Doan and MVNU still has three remaining matches for its spring season, a trio of matchups that will begin with a visit to Marietta, Ohio to face Marietta College on April 14 at 11 a.m.
