AVON – Sprinter Carl Jones Jr. of Mount Vernon Nazarene University Men’s Indoor Track and Field has been announced as the Crossroads League Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
The Crossroads League release is included below, which lists all of the award winners for the week of Jan. 22 to 28.
Jones Jr. helped MVNU to a second-place finish as a team in the season-opening meet in the Jessica Starks Open at Capital University, behind only NCAA Division II opponent Cedarville University.
The junior from Columbus, and graduate of Tree of Life Christian, finished second among 36 competing athletes in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.00 seconds, and fourth overall in the 200-meter dash in a field of 45 runners with a time of 23.03.
Jones Jr. is majoring in Exercise Science at MVNU. He has got his 2018 season off to a fast start for coach Chip Wilson and the Cougars, who will next travel to compete at Denison on Saturday, Feb. 3 for a meet set to begin at noon.
