Crash Report

  • Jan. 16 – James T. Aldrich was northbound on N. Main St. and Mary A. Watts was eastbound on W. Chestnut St. Both claimed to have the green light and collided at the intersection.
  • Jan. 17 – While backing from a marked parking space in the Mount Vernon Municipal Building Parking Garage, David C. Alberts struck a guardrail.
  • Jan. 17 – Brittany Corrina Armstrong was traveling eastbound on Coshocton Ave. and struck the rear of Jeremy D. Carpenter who was stopped at a red light on Coshocton Ave. facing eastbound. Armstrong was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
  • Jan. 17 – Tracy J. Shuley was on E. Ohio Ave. at S. Main St. at a red light. The Walk light came on for unit Diane M. Steinmetz and Adelyn Steinmetz to walk eastbound across S. Main St. When the light turned green Shuley proceeded to turn left on to S. Main St. and struck Diane and Adelyn while in the cross walk. Shuley was cited for traffic signal terms.

Incident Report

  • Jan. 16 – At approximately 1:43 P.M. an officer was dispatched to a Columbus Rd. business on a theft complaint. The manager stated a license plate had been stolen from one of the business’ trailers. A written statement was obtained the plate was entered into LEADS as stolen. No suspects have been identified at this time. Any new information will be supplemented to this report.
  • Jan. 16 – Officers were dispatched to Knox Community Hospital in reference to a disturbance. Hospital staff advised a male patient, Phillip Miller, was being belligerent and aggressive toward the staff. Miller was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Knox County Jail.
  • Jan. 16 – A male who lives on Sychar Rd. reported he was involved in a physical altercation with his wife. He stated he and their child had been locked out of their residence by the wife and when he finally got inside he was being yelled at and pushed; he stated he was assaulted from the rear. He locked himself and the child inside a bedroom and called police. The wife left the residence when she heard the husband calling police. On Wednesday, Jan. 17 the officer spoke to the wife and she was given the opportunity to complete a written report and submit evidence she claimed she had. The officer also received a phone call from the husband requesting no charges be filed. A report was filed.
  • Jan. 17 – At approximately 11:06 A.M. an officer was dispatched to a Shalimar Dr. apartment on a theft complaint. A written statement was obtained from the victim. They indicated several personal items, including a Social Security card, a food stamp card, a birth certificate, an SS award letter and a marriage license had been removed from the residence. The suspect is unknown as is the date of the incident. The complainant asked for ther incident to be documented. There is nothing further to report at this time.
  • Jan. 17 – At approximately 12:53 P.M. an officer was dispatched to a Coshocton Ave. business in reference to a recovered stolen vehicle. The investigation continues.

Arrests and Citations

  • Nov. 18, 2017 – Roger Mays, 59, Blackjack Rd. was arrested and charged with drug paraphernalia offenses. He was also cited for driving or physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and for driving or physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance.
  • Jan. 7 – Jason Fancelli, 38, N. Harrison St. was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
  • Jan. 16-Corey Focht, 35, Upper Fredericktown Rd. was cited for driving under an FRA suspension and charged with drug abuse.
  • Jan. 16 – Kathleen Stover, 48, Newark, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • Jan. 16 – Dustin Shinabery, 39, Howard, was cited for driving under an FRA suspension.
  • Jan. 16 – Tabitha King, 32, Becky Ln. was cited for operator/chauffeur license required.
  • Jan. 16 – Phillip Miller, 44, N. Sandusky St. was arrested for misconduct at an emergency room.
  • Jan. 16 – Teresa Brown, 61, E. Vine St. was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • Jan. 17 – Brittany Armstrong,19, Shalimar Dr. was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
  • Jan. 17 – Robert Fulton, 35, W. Chestnut St. was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • Jan. 17 – Tracy Shuley, 45, W. High St. was cited for traffic signal terms.
