MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Gilead Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle, fatal crash that occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. April 24, 2017 on State Route 586 near milepost 8 in Pleasant Township, Knox County.
Rebecca S. Roberts, age 70, of Martinsburg, Ohio was driving a grey 2014 Ford Focus northbound on State Route 586. Mrs. Roberts went off of the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert, a small tree, and embankment then overturned. Mrs. Roberts was transported to Knox Community Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Seatbelt was in use at the time of the crash and alcohol and or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Ms. Roberts family has been notified.
The Mount Gilead Post was assisted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Mount Vernon Fire Department and EMS.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mount Gilead Patrol Post.
