MOUNT VERNON – United Way of Knox County is pleased to announce Kelly Brenneman as its new Executive Director. Following a statewide search, Brenneman was selected from 17 applicants. She is currently serving as Director of Resource Development for the agency, responsible for executing the annual campaign, coordinating community events and establishing United Way’s new Women’s Leadership Council.
“I am beyond thrilled to have an opportunity to serve in such an honored role,” said Kelly Brenneman. “I have always admired United Way’s ability to bring out the best in a community and those that it serves. It’s an exciting time to be at the helm of this amazing organization as we kick off another campaign. This agency has an experienced and enthusiastic staff with a dedicated Board of Directors, I am very fortunate.”
“United Way of Knox County plays a vital role to unite the non-profit agencies that provide services in the areas of education, financial stability and health”, stated Mark Bennett, Board of Directors Chair. “Managing the financial investments of this community is a serious task so an exhaustive search was performed by our Search Committee. Along with our additional staff, we believe Kelly is the right person to effectively manage this organization. She brings some new perspectives and traits to the position; hopefully this will open new doors of opportunity for United Way and Knox County”, he added.
Brenneman previously spent 5 years as the former Executive Director of the American Red Cross, a United Way partner agency and was a past 2008 United Way Campaign Co-Chair. A 2011 Leadership Knox graduate, Brenneman is President of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club, Past President of Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Sorority and a member of Soroptimists. Over the years, her community involvement has impacted the work of many local non-profit boards and committees. Brenneman resides in Mount Vernon with her husband Charlie. They have three grown sons and three grandchildren.
Brenneman will begin her new role on October 1, 2015.
