Incidents:

At 1:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a burglary-in-progress at a residence on the 700-block of N. Main Street.

At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of an unattended infant at a residence on the 400-block of E. Ohio Avenue. An investigation remains ongoing.

At 1:45 p.m. on Friday, an officer responded to a report of a disturbance at the Learning Center on W. Vine Street.

At 5:50 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a reported drug overdose on the 1400-block of Gambier Road. A suspect was identified and fifteen Xanax tablets were collected at the scene.

At 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, a victim reported the theft of several items from his 1994 Chevy Blazer while parked in the alley behind Sandusky Avenue. Among the missing items were a black Coach wallet, a debit card, and a Capital One credit card. $930.00 in cash was also taken–$16 from the vehicle itself and $914.00 from the victim’s account.

At 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of threats being made at an apartment on the 600-block of S. McKenzie Street.

At 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a reported theft at Buffalo Wild Wings. A suspect was identified. $11.00 worth of Crown Royal and beer were involved.

At 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a burglary at a garage on the 900-block of W. High Street. A suspect was identified and a locking mechanism had been manipulated.

At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that her purse—containing her driver’s license, food card, Social Security card, and make-up—had been stolen. A suspect was identified.

At 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 900-block of W. Sugar Street. Suspects were identified.

At 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, an officer responded to a report of criminal mischief at a residence on the 100-block of S. Jackson Street. Paint on the building had been chipped off and a window had been damaged. A suspect was identified.

Arrests and Charges:

Jozn Ocker, 32, of Mount Vernon was charged at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday for persisting disorderly conduct and for menacing.

Curtis Hall, 32, of Mount Vernon was also charged at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday for persisting disorderly conduct and for menacing.

Traffic Citations:

Jessica Hays, 27, of Mount Vernon was cited at 7:50 a.m. on Friday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Dalton Gray, 18, of Howard was cited at 2:40 p.m. on Friday for illegally turning at an intersection.

Jamie Oakes, 34, of Mount Vernon was cited at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday for operating a vehicle with expired or unlawful plates.

Accidents:

At 7:50 a.m. on Friday, Mary E. McGovern, 55, of Fredericktown was heading southbound on Vernonview Drive in her 1998 Toyota Camry. Jessica I. Hays, 27, of Mount Vernon was immediately behind him in her 2002 Ford F-150. Both stopped at the red-light at the Coshocton Avenue intersection but, when it turned green, Hays rear-ended McGovern’s vehicle. Hays was cited for the incident.

At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, a 2005 Chevy Equinox, belonging to Melissa F. Breece, 40, of Mount Vernon was parked in a parking space in the Hiawatha Senior Village parking lot on Beech Street. Kathy E. Bolton, 45, of Mount Vernon was passing through the lot in her 1998 Ford Explorer. As Bolton passed, Breece backed out of her space and struck her.

At 1:15 p.m. on Friday, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, belonging to Neisha N. Payne, 27, of Mount Vernon was parked in a parking space in the Knox Community Hospital parking lot. Roger T. Carpenter, 76, of Mount Vernon was passing through the lot in his 2010 Chevy Silverado. As Carpenter passed, Payne backed out of her space and struck him.

At 2:40 p.m. on Friday, Dalton W. Gray, 18, of Howard was heading north on Verndale Drive in his 2007 Saturn SW. Bernice Holder, 60, of Mansfield was traveling eastbound on Coshocton Avenue in her 2005 Chrysler Sebring. At the Coshocton Avenue intersection, Gray stopped at the red-light and then attempted to turn right onto Coshocton Avenue without yielding to oncoming traffic. As he did so, he struck Holder’s vehicle in the side. Gray was cited for the incident.

KCSO 

At 3:15 p.m. on Friday, a Howard resident reported that someone had taken his wallet out of his pick-up. According to the report, the wallet contained $80.00 in cash and several credit cards.

At 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, a victim reported that someone had come onto his property on Columbus Road in Centerburg and vandalized his septic tank lid. He suspects “the neighbor kids somewhere in the village” were involved.

At 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, a resident of Croton Road in Centerburg reported that people keep using his driveway to gain access to the Village of Centerburg’s right-of-way. He was advised to call whenever he finds someone trespassing in this way and that charges could be filed.

Juvenile Related: 
DPD responded to unruly juveniles reported to be throwing rocks in the 400 block of South Richards Street on Thursday 4/30.

Vandalism:

DPD responded to the 10 block of West Rambo Street on a reported vandalism of a vehicle being keyed on Friday 5/1.

Suspicious Person:

DPD responded to the 100 block of Plum Street on a report of a suspicious person on Saturday 5/2.

Suspicious Vehicle:

DPD responded to the area of Black Road on a suspicious vehicle on Sunday 5/3.

Fireworks:

DPD responded on the report of fireworks being set off in the 100 block of Plum Street on Monday 5/4.

Auto Crash:

DPD responded to a Private Property Auto Crash in the 800 block of East Street on Friday 5/1. A vehicle operated by Laurie Banbury age 53 of Danville, backed into a parked vehicle owned by Jodi Everhart of Danville.

Charges:

DPD charged Jarrod Strouse age 39 of Danville for Speed on Thursday 4/30.

DPD charged Kelsi Miller age 21 of Utica for Speed on Friday 5/1.

DPD charged Paul Troyer age 19 of Oak Hill for no Driver’s License on Sunday 5/3.

DPD charged Bradlee Neirzelt age 23 of Danville for Driving Under Suspension on Monday 5/4.
