MOUNT VERNON – City parents and community members searching for information on how their tax dollars are being spent can get a good idea by checking out the newly updated Mount Vernon City School District website, www.mvcsd.us

After several months of planning and design, the newly constructed site has been launched with a fresh new graphic layout. It incorporates the traditional orange and black school colors in an easy to navigate format.

The new site includes the features you would expect including announcements, district calendar, lunch menus and links to buildings and departments throughout the district. Each district building has its own page on the site with news and announcements geared specifically towards the parents and students in that building. There are also links to the district’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Superintendent Bill Seder hosts videos on the website including one which takes the viewer on a tour of the site. Another video features Seder explaining the renewal levy on the ballot May 5th. The levy is a renewal, passage will not mean any new taxes.

Future plans include the addition of alumni pages and a district directory.

According to the district, the goal is to make the site interactive by accepting email addresses and text information from the community that will allow them to notify the public with breaking news when needed.

Even though lots of time has been spent working on the site, the public is invited to share ideas for links or information that may have been missed. Email webmaster@mvcsd.us with comments or suggestions.
