MOUNT VERNON – The familiar phrase “Play ball” will ring out at Mount Vernon’s Phillips Park Saturday morning as the Mount Vernon Baseball Association kicks off this year’s season. MVBA president Katie Beach says over 300 young people, ages 4-12 will play on 27 teams this year, with the regular season continuing through mid June.
Longtime coach and radio sports personality Dave Bevington will preside over the opening ceremony. Beach said, “Bevington was selected because of his years of dedication to youth sports and sports in general.”
Coaches, parents and volunteers have been hard at work since last October putting this season together. KnoxPages.com will publish results as they are submitted.
