MOUNT VERNON — A schedule of life-saving babysitter’s classes has been set for local residents interested in taking part in world-class training by the American Red Cross. Each year, more than 5 million people learn how to save a life in American Red Cross training classes and young people in Knox County can join the ranks of these everyday heroes by taking a class now.

The Babysitter’s course teaches young people how to perform first aid, what to do if someone is choking, and how to prevent and respond to other emergencies while they are caring for young ones. Course participants also learn how to start their own babysitting business, how to properly care for children 0-10 years of age and a whole lot more.

“Through the generosity of our partners, the United Way of Knox County, we are able to provide this vital course free of charge to the participants.” said Rod Cook, Executive Director, American Red Cross of East and South Central Ohio. “These are the classes that have been proven to save lives in our own communities.”
