COLUMBUS – The National Weather Service forecasts a complex winter weather system that will impact the state of Ohio through possibly Wednesday. The NWS and the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness will postpone the Wednesday, March 4th Statewide Tornado Drill to Friday, March 6, at 9:50 a.m.

However, Knox County Emergency Management Director Mark Maxwell says the local tornado drill will proceed as planned. You should hear the tornado sirens at 9:50 Wednesday morning. The signals that come from radio and television stations are postponed until Friday morning.

The NWS forecasts a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain Tuesday morning with a changeover to rain during the day, starting in southern Ohio, moving to northern Ohio.

Rain will change over to snow tonight into Wednesday, with heavy snow possible Wednesday, with anywhere from 5 inches to 8 inches expected in counties bordering the Ohio River.

Low lying areas could be impacted by localized flooding along creeks and streams.
