CANTON – Mount Vernon High School senior swimmer Robert Williams swam at the State Championships at C.T. Branin Natatorium over the weekend. According to coach Josh Kline, Williams had an absolutely amazing weekend. In less then 7 days he posted his top 3 lifetime bests in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. While breaking his previous school record from last weekend at District Championships in the 200 Freestyle. He ended with being 12th in the 200 Freestyle with a 1:42.64and 15th in the 100 Breaststroke with a 58.68 in the state of Ohio. To give you an idea of this meet and what that means this is the fastest State Championship in the United States and labeled as the Greatest High School Swim Meet by Swimming World Magazine. 

“As a high schooler, the required physical and mental state to perform at that level back to back to back like that is just phenomenal achievement and I couldn’t be happier at his performances. He is an amazing athlete and exceeds my expectations every time, said Kline.” Williams moves onward to YMCA Leagues, Zones, & Nationals as well as to Kenyon College next season.
