MOUNT VERNON – It’s a new era for the Mount Vernon High School football program as the Superintendent has announced the hiring of a new coach.
Supt. William Seder said, “We are extremely excited and pleased for our community and the Mount Vernon football program with the addition of Justin Todd as our new head Football coach. Justin is an outstanding coach and an even better person who brings an excitement and enthusiasm that will be refreshing. Justin is a proven winner as he has won 30 games in the last three years at Loudonville and taken the Redbirds to three playoff appearances. We have some work to do at Mount Vernon and we are excited to have Justin leading that charge.”
Todd currently is employed by the Loudonville-Perrysville School district where he serves as JH/LHS Dean of Students, Athletic Director and coach. Comments on social media have all been supportive of this hire.
Local sports commentator Dave Bevington, host of Sports Roundtable on WQIO Super Q 93.7 says he let is be known that Todd would be a great choice. “Besides being a coach with 30 wins and just 6 losses at Loudonville, Justin’s best quality, I believe, is building young men’s character. He is a great hire for Mount Vernon, not just as a coach, but as a great person young men will look up to,” said Bevington.
Former Yellow Jackets head football coach Anthony Naples resigned at the football banquet last fall after a 5-5 season.
