Arrests and Charges:
Shannon Brown, 24, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 5:30 p.m. on Friday for domestic violence.
Aaron Mahlman, 23, of Marengo was arrested at 11:50 a.m. on Saturday for aggravated menacing.
Corey Dotson, 30, of Killbuck of was arrested at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Traffic Citations:
Robert Kuhlman, 61, of Mount Vernon was cited at 9:45 a.m. on Friday for illegal operation at a stop-sign.
Lauren Semelsberger, 24, of Mount Vernon was cited at 10:50 a.m. on Friday for speeding.
Darin Belcher, 25, of Mount Vernon was cited at 11:35 a.m. on Friday for failing to control her vehicle.
Donovan Hoskins, 22, of Mount Vernon was cited at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday for illegal operation at a stop-sign.
Accidents:
At 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Carol A. Miller, 49, of Mount Vernon was heading southbound on S. Main Street in his 2009 GMC Acadia. Robert A. Kuhlman, 61, of Mount Vernon was heading westbound on Kirk Street in a 1996 Ford F-150. At the intersection of those streets, Miller attempted to turn left and Kuhlman failed to yield at the stop-sign and struck her vehicle. Kuhlman was cited for the incident.
At 11:35 a.m. on Friday, Darin L. Belcher, 25, of Mount Vernon was heading eastbound on Delano Street in his 2003 Jeep Liberty. Brian T. Gastin, 55, of Mount Vernon was backing his 2011 Chevy Impala out of a driveway onto Delano Street. Belcher swerved to avoid him and struck a fire hydrant. Belcher was cited for the incident.
At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Donovan D. P. Hoskins, 22, of Mount Vernon was heading northbound on George Street in his 2000 Pontiac Grand Marquis but had stopped at the East High Street intersection. Andrew E. Brown, 19, of Mount Vernon was heading eastbound on E. High Street in his 2014 Honda Civic. Hoskins attempted to quickly cross the intersection, began to slide in the snow, and was unable to get across the intersection. Brown saw Hoskins pull in front of him, slammed on his brakes, and attempted an evasive maneuver. This proved inadequate and he struck Hoskins’s vehicle in the side. Hoskins slid into the utility pole at the northeast corner of the intersection before coming to a final rest. Hoskins was cited for the incident.
At 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, Andrew W. Marsell, 30, of Mount Vernon was heading southbound on S. Sandusky Street in his 2008 Chevy Silverado. At the W. Gambier Street intersection, he went off the roadway to the right and struck a utility pole.
Incidents
At around 6:10 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of domestic violence at a residence on the 200-block of W. Curtis Street. A suspect was identified and arrested.
At 9:55 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to an alarm at a residence on the 000-block of Sychar Road. They found the rear entrance door slightly ajar. They were unable to make contact with the residence and, thanks to the intervention of a large aggressive dog inside, were unable to check the residence thoroughly. Eventually, they reached the homeowner by telephone and he indicated that they were out of town but had left only a few hours earlier. He told the officer that he would check the residence when he returned and contact MVPD if there were any problems.
At 4:55 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to an alarm at the Amvets post on S. Mechanic Street. An employee reported that she had accidentally triggered the alarm and that everything was fine.
At 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, an employee of the Knox County Career Center reported that someone had driven through the yard of the facility.
At 9:05 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a vandalized mailbox on Longitude Drive. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
At 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of an individual threatening suicide at Knox Community Hospital.
