JOHNSTOWN – On Monday, Licking County Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to a 911 call of a burglary in progress in the 10000 block of Appleton Road N.W., in the Johnstown area. The homeowner arrived home and confronted two adult males leaving his house. One of the males brandished a pistol, threatening the homeowner with it. The homeowner pushed the suspect’s vehicle with his own truck into the ditch, just down the road from his home, disabling the car. One of the suspects ran into the woods and was quickly apprehended. The other suspect surrendered immediately to the homeowner until deputies arrived and took both into custody. Their vehicle was impounded as well.
Interviews were conducted and one of the suspects gave information indicating that the two had committed other burglaries in central Ohio in the recent past. Detectives will be investigating to determine whether other burglaries in Licking County can be linked to these suspects and will be working with detectives in other jurisdictions to help solve additional property crimes.
