MOUNT VERNON– Food For The Hungry of Knox County’s (FFTH) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Lisa Mazzari as Drive Coordinator. Mazzari will assume her duties immediately.
Mazzari’s duties will include organizing and chairing community meetings, coordinating volunteers, helping secure donations, marketing, and serving as a liaison between the FFTH board and the numerous community events that happen in support of the drive. Food For The Hungry, entering its 33rdyear, is an annual campaign to raise food and funds to support Interchurch Social Services and the Salvation Army, and other food and client assistance organizations throughout Knox County. Last year’s drive resulted in donations of over $207,700 and 65 trucks of food.
“I am humbled and honored to be part of the Food For The Hungry team again,” Mazzari said. “The FFTH Board is such a great example of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. They have led by example for many years. I appreciate the confidence they are placing in me. One of my most treasured experiences in the community was working on the campaign in the past….I feel like I am going home. I am excited to learn as much as possible and hit the ground running.”

“Food For The Hungry is excited to welcome Lisa to a leadership role,” said Joe Rinehart, Board President. “We know Lisa well from her days at Interchurch and believeher experience in non-profit organization, planning and leading, along with her desire to make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors, is a great fit for our campaign.”
Mazzari is a Danville native, and studied social work at Ohio Valley College and West Virginia University. She was Interchurch Social Services branch manager in Danville from 1999-2007, and currently serves as a counselor at the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center of Knox County. She has also worked as a pre-school teacher and for the Winter Sanctuary homeless shelter.
Mazzari replaces Sandy Rhoton, who announced her retirement earlier this year. Rhoton has graciously offered to assist Mazzari in the transition for the 2014 drive. Emily Boggs remains as assistant to the drive coordinator.
This year’s Food For The Hungry broadcast is scheduled for Saturday, December 13th. For more information, log on to www.foodforthehungrycares.org
