GAMBIER – The McBride Field seating at Kenyon College is getting a colorful facelift this summer. The new look features purple seats and bleachers. According to Justin Newell, Kenyon’s Assistant Athletics Director in charge of facilities, the project was approved through the college’s Repair and Replacement budget to correct the existing stadium’s issues. The new stadium addressses safety issues, meets codes and will provide a better overall fan experience. The project will add 112 more seats, making the stadium’s capacity 1,762. The project had a working budget of $550,000.00.

Martin Fuller, Kenyon’s Sports Information director says sports played at McBride Field are football, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s track and field. Additionally, both soccer teams and occasionally the women’s lacrosse team practice on the field in preparation for away games that are played on artificial surfaces.
Kenyon’s first football game at the newly refurbished McBride Field is scheduled for September 6th versus Marietta.
