During a routine traffic stop on Harcourt Road at around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, a deputy found that the driver, Ryan S. Brasseur, 40, of Mount Vernon was wanted for an outstanding warrant. He was taken into custody without incident.
Just before noon on Sunday, Darryl P. Fiant, 38, of Mount Vernon was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by the Delaware County Municipal Court for a probation violation. He was arrested, taken to the Knox/Delaware county line and released to the Delaware County Sheriff’s office without incident.
At around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, an employee of the Dollar General on N. Sandusky Street in Mount Vernon reported that she had observed two individuals shoplifting from the business. One of the suspects was a white female with dark hair, jeans, and a gray hoodie with black sleeves. She was carrying a purse. The other was a white male wearing red pants and a black hoodie with white lettering. The deputy watched the store surveillance video and, in it, he observed the female placing items into her purse and the male placing items into his pants. Neither the victim nor the deputy was able to immediately identify either suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
Several cars were damaged last Saturday (1/23/14) while parked outside Dutch’s Bar and Grill on Columbus Road in Mount Vernon. At least six vehicles had one or more tires slashed and one had a dent on its front driver-side quarter panel—apparently the result of having been kicked.
Last Wednesday (1/22/14), a Kenyon student reported that someone had stolen his MacBook Air and a backpack (an Osprey Flapjack) from his unlocked dorm room. The computer was silver and the backpack was black. The victim estimated their value at between $1600 and $2000 and advised that his name was printed on the laptop in several places.
