MOUNT VERNON — On January 20, MVNU will host the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast, “The Voice Still Speaks,” from 9 – 11 a.m. in Foster Hall, located in the brand-new Ariel Arena. This event is free and open to the public; RSVP is required by Jan. 15.
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast is sponsored by The King Legacy Committee, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Kenyon College. The morning will feature keynote speaker Linette Porter-Metler, a presentation of the Ariel Spirit of the Vision Award, and performances by the Student Musical Group (“Todos Por El”) and the MVNU Student Dance Ministry.
Linette Porter-Metler is the Community Relations Director for the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. She is an avid volunteer for Knox County community organizations and has worked on the Underground Railroad Project for 30 years. She previously served as the Health and Safety Director of the American Red Cross of Knox County.
