UPDATE: “Suspect” says he was trying to be a good Samaritan. MVPD Interim Chief George Hartz said the MVPD had a report of a car matching the description given out earlier in the week but the responding officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

They did get a license plate number from that vehicle. The same person was in the area at East School Friday morning. Hartz said, “Our officers contacted him and he confirmed that he was the one who offered the boys a ride. He insisted that he was only being a good Samaritan and offering the boys rides because of the cold temperatures.  In any case, he was advised that such behavior is suspicious at a minimum and that he is not to do it again.”
