At around 3:50 p.m. last Friday, a resident of Lonzo Lane in Mount Vernon reported that his tools were gradually being stolen. He informed the deputy that, over the past several weeks, he had noticed that tools were periodically disappearing from her garage. The disappeared tools ranged from small hand-tools to a salamander-style heater. He told the deputy that he would put together a list and bring it to the office and noted that he has no suspects at this time.
At around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, a resident of Wooster Road in Mount Vernon reported that someone had stolen his dark-green Honda all-terrain vehicle from his open and unlocked barn. The theft occurred sometime between November 6th and November 8th. When asked why he had waited so long to report it missing, the victim said that he had wanted to make sure that no other family members had borrowed it. A report of the incident was taken and the vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen property.
Just before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, a complainant reported that she was babysitting at a home on Apple Valley Drive in Howard when someone pounded on the back door and tried repeatedly to turn the door knob. She took all the children into the bedroom and called 911. While the deputy was en route to the scene, the complainant advised that the pounding had stopped and that the person may have left. The deputy arrived and took a report.
While conducting a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon, a deputy arrested a suspect on Wiggin Street near the People’s Bank of Gambier. The driver, Brandon W. Wilson, 21, of Gambier, was found to be not only driving under a suspended license but was also wanted on a bench warrant issued by Ashland County. He was arrested and taken to the county line without further incident.
At around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, a resident of Wakeman, Ohio reported that his camper had been vandalized while parked on the Mohican Reservation in Loudonville. The victim noted that he had not been to the camper for about a month before, on his return, he found that someone had shot a .22 caliber round through the camper’s window. As the victim was no longer at the scene, the deputy suggested that he contact the Sheriff’s Office next time he was at the camp site so a deputy could confirm the damage.
