MOUNT VERNON — On Tuesday December 17, 2013 The Knox County Sheriff’s Office began its regular concentrated sweep to make contact with all of the registered sex offenders in Knox County. The purpose of the sweep is to verify that the registered offenders are actually living at the location that they provided to law enforcement. The operation was organized by Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detectives. Assistance was provided by officers from the Mount Vernon Police Dept., Mount Vernon Municipal Court Probation, and Adult Parole Authority.

Of the 85 registered offenders living in the county, contact and confirmation has been made with 62 persons. Officers are continuing to follow up on the remaining 23 offenders to verify their addresses.

As a result of the sweep Steven E. Davison Jr., 24, of Mt. Vernon was arrested for failure to provide a change of address.
