At 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle and it turned into a high-speed pursuit through town. The vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Malibu, left the roadway and wrecked at the bottom of a field on New Gambier Road. Suspects were injured and charged. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the MVPD impound lot as evidence. Recovered at the scene was an LG flip-style cell phone, half a pack of Marlboro Black 100s, and a jar of marijuana.
Britney Strunk, 18, of Mount Vernon was charged at around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday for possession of
drug paraphernalia.
Timothy Llewellyn, 19, of Mount Vernon was charged just after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with misuse of credit cards.
Paul D. Scott, Jr., 18, of Mount Vernon was charged at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday with underage consumption.
Traffic Citations:
Chad Lee Shuley, 43, of Newark was cited at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday for operating a vehicle with expired plates and for operating a vehicle without required headlights.
Paul D. Scott, 18, of Mount Vernon was cited at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday for failing to use a required safety belt. He was cited also for reckless operation of a motor vehicle and for having no valid driver’s license.
Elyn Janelle A. Tibbs, 30, of Mount Vernon was cited at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday for driving a vehicle with an expired registration.
Samantha J. Schuster, 22, of Mount Vernon was cited at 7:50 a.m. on Thursday for operating a vehicle with expired plates.
Accidents:
Just after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Karisa Lynn McDonald, 18, of Mount Vernon backed her 1996 Ford F-150 out of a parking-space in the McDonald’s parking-lot on Newark Road. At the same time, Glenn E. Van Houten, Jr., 56, of Mount Vernon backed his 2007 Ford SW out of an adjacent parking-
space. The two collided.
Incidents:
At around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, an officer conducting a house-check for a suspect on probation found an item of drug paraphernalia—a hypodermic needle.
