MOUNT VERNON – On the morning of May 7, 2013, the Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 123 Quarry Street. Fire Investigator, Terry Davis determined the fire was intentionally set. With the assistance of an anonymous citizen and the Ohio Blue Ribbon Arson Committee, the crime was solved and the citizen was awarded $2,000 for providing information leading to a conviction.

The MVFD continues to actively investigate another arson case. On May 2, 2013, a fire was intentionally set to an apartment at 2 McGibney Road. The Ohio Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering up to $5,000 to anyone furnishing information leading to the identification of person(s) responsible. Harvest Management Group, owners of the complex, will match the reward. In total, up to $10,000 will be given to anyone sharing information leading to a conviction.
