MOUNT VERNON–United Way of Knox County’s campaign has the potential to achieve record results, was the message communicated to the volunteers who gathered for United Way’s 2013 campaign reporting luncheon Thursday.
William B. Levering, Sr., 2013 United Way Campaign Chairman, thanked campaign cabinet members who share United Way’s LIVE UNITED mission within their area or division. Levering spoke of United Way’s campaign success, recognizing increased visibility through marketing and media partnerships as a key factor in record results.
Currently, the campaign stands at $628,744, or 78.59% of the $800,000 goal. At this time last year, the campaign thermometer showed $465,118 reflecting 64% of the 2012 goal of $725,000. Almost 50 new donor investments and 30 increased contributions from individuals, corporations and organizations account for the majority of the increase.
“Now comes the time for the heavy lifting,” said Levering. “I am very proud and quite pleased of what we have accomplished as a community but recognize that we will only be able to hit our goal if each of us makes a real push toward that end.”
United Way’s 2013 campaign will fund nine programs that impact educational efforts in Knox County, four programs that target the income stability in area households, twelve programs that address local health and wellness needs, and more.
