The State dismissed other charges against Lang as part of a negotiated plea, incuding felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse, and aggravated arson. Thatcher said Lang’s guilty plea to murder, the most serious offense in the indictment, and his sentence to a mandatory prison tetm of fifteen years to life was satisfactory to the State and to the victim’s family.

Pilotti was convicted October 25 of complicity to commit felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and aggravated arson for the part she played in the fight leading to Grosscup’s death and for setting the fire in Grosscup’s apartment to cover up the crime on February 14.

Detective Corporal Matt Dailey, Mount Vernon Police Department and State Fire Marshall’s Office  Investigator Jason Whaley investigated the case.
