MOUNT VERNON – One of the sweetest spots in downtown Mount Vernon has moved about a mile south. The move was prompted by upcoming renovation work at the Woodward Opera House complex which housed The Pink Cupcake Bakery. The owners were told they had to move for the work and then could move back in. Rhonda Smith, one of the owners of the Pink Cupcake, says they only wanted to move once.
The new location at 115 Newark Road used to house an ice cream business. The new location will feature not only cakes, cupcakes, and cookies but a limited new menu consisting of bagels and cream cheese, hot dogs, chili and soups. Smith says the hours have been extended and the number of employees has doubled.
