MOUNT VERNON-Mount Vernon was leading Franklin Heights Friday night 16-6 in the second quarter when officials called a lightning delay. About a half hour later the game was postponed until Saturday afternoon. When the two teams finished the game on Saturday, Mount Vernon won 37-15.
During the lightning delay, the 1963 MVHS undefeated football team was recognized in the stands. No Mount Vernon football team has been undefeated since then.
